ADDISON + FAMILY • FUN AT THE PARK
Sometimes, all you need…
engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.
"the children were playing outside"
synonyms: amuse oneself, entertain oneself, enjoy oneself, have fun, have a good time, relax, rest, be at leisure, occupy oneself, divert oneself, play games, frolic, frisk, gambol, romp, cavort, caper
…is an afternoon to play.
As adults, we assume that we don’t have time for play. Beyond that, we assume that it’s not for us, anyway.
I like to challenge that notion though, and I’d like for you to do the same.
The stresses of the “real world” become so overwhelming to us because, oftentimes, we don’t allow ourselves enough time (or any at all) to just have fun surrounding our “real-world” responsibilities.
To do something outside of our usual bubble of reality.
To have an evening where there’s nothing planned—and the only plan is to do anything.
To do something for no other reason than the fact that it makes us happy.
Shooting with Addison and her family was a great opportunity for us all to “play.” There wasn’t any stress present—only excitement and possibilities.
Kristen and I went to high school together, and while we never had the chance to become very close, we’ve always known and been friendly with one another.
Beyond that, she’s supported Kentucky Songbird Photography since the very beginning…and that’s not something that I take lightly. Her continuous support and kindness has meant so much to me, and when she won the Family Collection in this past Holiday Season Giveaway, I thought, “She’s so deserving!!!”
When Kristen asked if we could have their session at the park, I happily obliged, because I knew it would make her daughter Addison very happy. Giving kids the chance to interact with their families in ways they already know always helps to break the ice at the beginning of a shoot, which made Kristen’s idea perfect!
I hope you all enjoy these favorites from my time with Addison, Kristen, and Derrick!
Addison’s grandma (and Kristen’s mom), Nicki, tagged along at the shoot with her sweet dog, Gizmo! We had to include them for at least a few photos at the end of our shoot!
Addison, Kristen and Derrick, I’m so happy we finally got to capture your family photos!!! Addison is such a ray of sunshine, and I’m so grateful I got to spend the afternoon with you all “playing!”
Until next time,
