BEST OF PROM 2019
It may have been raining…but it didn’t slow down this year’s prom festivities.
I don’t know what it is about prom, but every year I’ve photographed Russell County Prom, it’s rained.
Every. Single. Time!!!
In the weeks leading up to the day of, I just had a feeling that it would.
Lo and behold, at the beginning of the week of prom, the forecast was predicting a 90% chance of rain that Saturday…
…so I went ahead and stocked up on some new umbrellas, my mom helped find me a canopy in case of an emergency downpour (which we didn’t end up having to use, thankfully), and I ran over scenarios and poses in my mind that would work with the weather conditions.
One of my biggest concerns, though, was making sure that my prom-goers knew that the rain couldn’t stop us, and that we would be okay no matter what!
And guess what?!
The rain wasn’t a big deal at all! There were a couple of points during the day that the showers could’ve been considered “moderate,” but other than that, we mainly only had to work around sprinkles.
I think everything turned out awesome considering the circumstances!!!
I want to say a very warm THANK YOU to Roy Lee and Judy Helm, the owners of The Amaranth, for allowing me to shoot these portraits at their residence—not only this year, but last year as well. They have always welcomed me into their home/onto their property without hesitation. Their kindness has played a massive role in the success of these sessions over the last two years!!!
I’ve been anxious to show you all my favorites from the day of prom for a while now, and the time has finally come to showcase these awesome people! Enjoy!!!
I feel like a very lucky gal…the stakes can be high on days like prom when there are so many back to back shoots, but each couple and individual were so respectful of me, Cam, and our time, that the day flew by without a hitch.
THANK YOU to each one of you promgoers, and also, to the parents, family members, and friends that accompanied them to their shoots! Our conversations, laughter, and storytelling amidst snapping photos are moments that Cam and I won’t forget!!!
Until next time…
