About the photographer
Hello, there. It's really groovy that you stopped by to check out my work, and to get to know me a little better.
My name is Skyler Smith, and my deepest passion belongs to art. Photography, music, painting, drawing, film, graphic design--these are just a few of the facets of the subject that I have fallen in love with over the course of my life.
Creating art is, to me, one of the greatest privileges a person can have in this life on Earth. Not much else can compare to the joy of creating something that makes someone else feel so deeply that they become inspired to pursue new avenues, further expand on their understanding of the universe around them, and want to discover their very own unique artistic voice that resides inside of them. Bob Dylan once said, "The highest purpose of art is to inspire. What else can you do? What else can you do for anyone but inspire them?" And it's true--what else can you do? That is why art fulfills my soul in ways almost nothing else can.
A close family friend once labeled me as "Kentucky Songbird" in a photograph he took of me at one of my local concerts. Born and raised in Lake Cumberland, with an extensive history in music, I was honored by this alias and decided to stick with it. When I was creating my photography business, I knew right away what I wanted it to be called.
I find inspiration in nature as well as in the studio. I wholly enjoy capturing genuine, real-life, candid moments between my clients and their loved ones, and am greatly honored when I am asked to document the important milestones in their life. However, I equally enjoy creating alternate realities and exploring abstract themes when I get the chance. Capturing the thought, vibe, style, and emotion that belongs to each brief moment of time never gets old to me. Being that there is always something worthy of being captured, I carry my camera with me at all times.
You can count on me to capture your moments with all of the light, love, and life my camera will allow me to. I look forward to seeing the art we will create together, and I hope you know how honored it makes me to get to help tell your story.
